Dr. Saif Al-Suwaidi: Artificial Intelligence is a Scientific Revolution and a Solution to Contemporary Challenges

The “Bil-Iraqi” program on Haq TV hosted Dr. Saif Al-Suwaidi, Secretary-General of Areed International University for Graduate Studies, in a comprehensive interview where he discussed “Artificial Intelligence” and its various applications in daily life.
At the beginning of the interview, the program host congratulated Dr. Saif on transforming the Areed platform into an international university for graduate studies, emphasizing that this step is the result of long and continuous efforts. In response, Dr. Al-Suwaidi expressed his pride in this transformation, highlighting the importance of graduate education in fostering innovation and knowledge.
Regarding artificial intelligence, Dr. Al-Suwaidi explained that it is the simulation of human intelligence by machines, where devices and systems attempt to mimic human cognitive abilities such as analysis, planning, and decision-making. He added that artificial intelligence differs from human intelligence as much as an airplane differs from a bird—the airplane simulates the bird but is not a real bird.
Dr. Al-Suwaidi also highlighted the most prominent practical applications of AI in daily life, such as disease diagnosis using X-rays and self-driving cars like Tesla. He noted that AI significantly contributes to the advancement of education, healthcare, and scientific research.
Addressing the question of AI’s impact on the economy, Dr. Al-Suwaidi explained that AI creates new economic opportunities by generating jobs across various fields, emphasizing the importance of preparing for these changes through education and training in AI technologies. He added that many future jobs will heavily rely on these technologies.
Regarding challenges associated with AI, Dr. Al-Suwaidi warned of potential threats to job security and privacy, especially if AI is used unethically or irresponsibly. He stressed the importance of raising awareness about AI ethics and implementing strict regulations to ensure its safe and proper use.
Dr. Saif Al-Suwaidi concluded the interview with advice for Iraqi youth, affirming that AI can play a significant role in advancing education, administration, and economic development in Iraq.
